Weleda! You can find their products in different websites. I used with my daughter and am using with my son. Pricey but worth it. Buttpaste is good too when you have a mild rash, the only downside is that stained my prefolds.

My baby is now 3 and no longer needs it - but I made my own diaper cream to use with him. Now my sister and best friend use it too. I like it better when I take the time to add a little beeswax to the mix, but what I used was 1 TBSP Olive Oil, a few drops of Vit. E, a few drops of stevia, a few drops of Black Walnut Hull Tincture, a few drops each of lavender and chamomile Essential Oils. In the winter I would add the coconut oil to make it more solid.
My oldest would get terrible rashes - and we traced it to a dairy allergy. I'm talking hamberger raw blisters 24 hours after having dairy - it would suddenly appear and 3 days later just as suddenly disappear other than were the skin would break. The only think that worked for her was slathering her in Vit. E oil. At least the blisters didn't break as bad. Worse even was the fact that those 3 days she always had terrible diarehha(sp) that smelled of terribly soured milk. I wish I had known about essential oils and such when she was a baby.

Shea Butter works well....I have not been able to find it in stores...100% pure that is. You do need to rub it around in your hand to soften it up to apply to the bumm. Have found it on line and love it....also love the coconut oil. Have never heard of "chlorine free" diapers...will have to look into that one. We won't be having anymore babies...but have friends who are...would be a good thing for them.

The weird thing is that my son has really never had a serious diaper rash. We've struggled with yeast infections at night, but otherwise he's never ever had a red bottom with cloth. We have used clotrimazole cream lots of times for his yeast infections but I don't think it should be used as a prevention agent rather than a treatment. Am I right?

Thanks, everyone, for all these replies!

Cinnamon, that Waleda's cream looks great, but I think it is even more expensive than Burt's. My diaper cream days are over now, but I was interested in hearing how Waleda's product stacked up against Burt's.

April, yes, I guess I should have said that Burt's didn't stain diapers as much as Desitin did. If I put too much on, I did have some problems with it staining the diapers.

Laura and Sarah, coconut oil seems like a great natural alternative to diaper creams!

Gillie, I have never heard of clotrimazole cream. Joy should use this on her son if it helps prevent yeast-related rashes! (My daughter never had problems with yeast.)

Thanks, everyone! Keep those comments coming!

Thanks for the review. We use coconut oil and it works pretty good. You know, Burt's Bees is only recently acquired by Clorox. It did not used to be that way. But their formulas have not changed any. Maybe they just weren't doing good on their own and needed the money that's why they sold out...

Desitin is what works best for us, but I've never tried Burt's Bees. I'll have to give it a whirl.

We tried EVERYTHING (Desitin, A & D, etc.) and finally settled on Burt's, in spite of the price. However, I happily found out that their Herbal Defense Ointment (since discontinued!) is the exact same stuff as their diaper cream but way cheaper, so I stocked up on that when I found 3 tubes on eBay. If you have some of it around, give it a try-- I use mine for everything and it works better than anything else...

I have to say that I loved Desitin, and the old-fashioned kind, not the newer versions. Straight up zinc oxide is about as natural as you can get and really provides the best barrier. I wasn't using cloth though but I am not too particular about stains, especially on the inside of the diaper. I always found the ones that go on smooth and wipe off easy didn't actually protect that well. My kids both had extremely sensitive skin. I have found that both kids will still occasionally get rashes because they wipe their own tushies and don't always do such a great job. I will just give them the tube and tell them to use it and it clears up.

I haven't tried burt's bees diaper cream, but thanks for the tip. My little one has a fairly sensitive gut and can end up with diarrhea and a sore bum easily. One thing a doctor that I work with in the NICU suggested to me last time he ended up with a yeasty bum rash was clotrimazole cream. Most medicated creams have miconazole in them and docs are seeing rashes resistant to miconazole. I found the clotrimazole in the athlete's foot section and it cleared up his red, raw bottom within hours. Happy baby, happy me :)
