If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or just trying to survive the summer (just one month left!), then you know the importance of staying hydrated. With this in mind, we recently divulged our recipes for homemade iced tea and lemonade, asking our readers how they quenched their thirst.

Emily had this to say:
I’ve been nursing for 2 months and am thirsty all the time! I get tired of plain water, and even iced tea. My new favorite beverage is infused water. I just fill a pitcher with water, toss in some combination of sliced lemons, limes, oranges, strawberries, cucumbers, or sprigs of mint (mixing and matching flavors adds variety), and stash it in the fridge.
Brilliant! I don’t mind drinking plain old water, but I know there are people who don’t have clean-tasting tap water, don’t like tea, and don’t want to spend money on other beverages. In addition to the ingredients Emily listed above, I’ve tried watermelon, basil, and lemon balm. Any other ideas for infusing water?

Yum! Great ideas. I’ve only tried lemon and orange so far. Watermelon sounds awesome!

I’ve never tried this, but it is a great idea. I’ll have to try making up a batch when I get home. I have peached and plums. I wonder how they’d work?

I know a spa or two that infuses water with cucumber, but I’ve never been a fan of that flavor. I’ve only ever done it with half an orange and a bit of lemon – now that I LOVE.

I have tried grapes, cherries, peaches, and nectarines. They all tasted great to me!

I’ve been drinking Laborade when I’m really dehydrated or just feeling worn out. It’s lemonade with a little salt and a little baking soda. The soda reacts with the lemon juice to make it slightly fizzy. It tastes weirdly good when I need it, and it really perks me up!

Yum! I don’t like plain old water but I think having this comb. would be great. I’d also have a good use for the lemons I don’t use or any fruit that I need to get rid of before it spoils. It would look pretty in a pitcher for company as well.
