We’ve been keeping our eye on the Little Balance Box since its Kickstarter campaign earlier this year, and we’re excited that the first production run has turned out such a great product!
The inspiration for the Little Balance Box was a frustration with seated walkers, which inhibits mobility and doesn’t let a baby practice standing up and sitting down, and a push walker, which can be hard to maneuver and tip over easily.
Little Balance Box is made from sustainable bamboo with nylon feet and a clear polycarbonate top. It’s BPA and PVC Free, and wipes down easily. Just keep in mind that you might want to lightly oil the natural bamboo on occasion to keep it looking nice, and any spilled water or drools show up clearly.
The design is really innovative, especially the nylon feet, complete with shock absorbers, that glide easily over our carpet and tile floors. The “floating feet” are supposed to provide sensory input, and they make it so the box still moves even if your exerting a lot of pressure on top. My daughter can easily pull herself up to standing using the frame for leverage, and can either use the frame or top to push it forward.
My older daughter likes it even more, since she can see it’s potential as a desk for “working”, a table for her snacks and a tray she can use to transport her toys from one room of the house to another. Despite its sturdy construction, I had to draw the line at using it as a stool to reach the counter.
Since they are newly on the market, you won’t be seeing these in stores yet. But you can buy one on their website now.
