Lunchtime Must Haves and Giveaways!

Press Pouch

press-pouchOne lunchtime item that we can’t live without is the Press Pouch Reusable Squeeze Pouch. It works just like the ones you buy at the store, but has a zipper and bottom for filling it with your own smoothies or purees. I usually fill ours with Greek yogurt mixed with green powder for a nutritional snack.  I love that these allow my 15mo and 3yo to eat yogurt without making a mess, but also that it frees me up from sitting there with a spoon coaxing them to eat and not play.

I’ve also filled these with my Peanut Butter Banana Milkshakes and different savory purees.  After they’re empty, it’s a cinch to rinse them out and run through the dishwasher.  The Press Pouch is BPA Free, Phthalate Free, PVC Free and also freezer safe.  Just be sure to put a label on it saying “DO NOT THROW AWAY” along with your kid’s name if you send to to daycare with them.

Funkins Cloth Napkins

funkins.300.305
We’re big on table manners, so our kids always have a napkin on hand at meal time. We love that the Funkins cloth napkins are cute, functional AND eco friendly. Each Funkin is double sided and there are a ton of different 100% cotton prints to choose from. Since they are sturdy, and measure in at 15″x13, they also make a great place mat.

Silikids Training Cup

silikidsI have been using reusable glass water bottles for years and decided to use glass baby bottles as well.  Once my daughter was old enough for a sippy cup, I switched to BPA free plastic.  I knew that there were glass options out there, but she’s such a butter fingers and our kitchen tile is not forgiving.  Now that she’s a little less clumsy, I decided to try out a glass sippy cup with a silicone sleeve, just in case.

The Silikids Training Cup is an 8 oz. glass cup with a silicone sleeve and suction lid.  Unlike the plastic sippy cups we’ve been using, there are no valves to get moldy and no pieces to take apart in order for it to get cleaned properly.  Since it’s just glass and silicone, if you fill it with milk and forget to refrigerate it, you don’t have to worry about it absorbing any spoiled milk smells.  Plus, you can always boiling the silicone lid and sleeve if you are worried about sanitation.

Because it doesn’t have a valve, it’s not completely leak proof.  If you shake it upside-down, a few drops come out. I left it on it’s side on the counter, and checked on it an hour later to see if it would leak and there was one drop of water on the counter. It’s weighted so that if left on the floor, the nozzle is far enough away from the floor that it can’t get depressed, unlike other ones we’ve used.

Banda Bib

banda-bibWe’re firm believers in functional items that are also fashionably cute.  That’s why we love the Banda Bibs! There are dozens of prints to choose, which means you can pick the perfect one to coordinate with your baby’s outfit.

We especially like the Banda Bib II because it has two snaps in back for adjustable sizing.  You can use it to catch drool and milk dribbles from your infant all the way up through toddler years when they still manage to get as much on their face and clothes as in their mouth.

KidzSprinkles

kidzsprinklesIf your kids are picky eaters, you probably look for ways to sneak extra nutrients into their meals.  KidzSprinkles makes it easier than ever! This is a 4-in-1 supplement that is a multivitamin with 4 billion probiotics, essential omega 3’s, digestive enzymes, and iron. The best part is that there’s no added sugar, colors or fillers.  Plus, it’s made in the USA and is allergen- and vegan-friendly and GMO free.

My daughter thinks it’s super fun to sprinkle it on her oatmeal, toast, pasta, pizza, whatever!  It doesn’t have a noticeable taste, and she’s asks me for it daily so I don’t even have to remember to give it to her.

201 Organic Baby and Toddler Meals

201-organic-baby-and-toddler-mealsSometimes I need a little inspiration to come up with fresh meal ideas, and 201 Organic Baby and Toddler Meals by Tamika L. Gardner is a great resource! Some are simple and take only a few ingredients, like Kale Chips, and others are a complete meal, like Cheeseburger Soup.  Each recipe is nutritious, featuring fruit and vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats.  The freezer friendly recipes will help you kick the pre-packaged habit.

Beginning with meals for 9 month old babies and progressing to toddler recipes, this book is the perfect reference for the first few years.  Gardner, who also authored 201 Organic Baby Purees, also includes tips on meal planning and essential items for a well-stocked pantry.

GoMacro Bars

go-macroWe’re the first to admit we don’t always have time to prepare an organic meal or even fill a Press Pouch.  For those moments, we like GoMacro Bars. Each bar is filled with grains, nuts, seeds and natural sweeteners.  I like that they are USDA organic, non-GMO project verified, kosher, gluten free and vegan certified.  My kids like that they ingredients are ore finely-ground than other bars.  There aren’t any big nut chunks that are hard for little mouths to chew up.

We like some flavors better than others, so we recommend trying out a variety pack before buying a box of them.  For the kids, we like the Mini Bars that have about 100 calories each.

Repurpose

Repurpose-Product-LineWe might usually use cloth napkins and reusable water bottles, but we believe there is a time and place for disposable items.  We’re always on the lookout for eco-friendly options for picnics and parties, and Repurpose Compostables fits the bill.  And we’re not talking just plates and insulated cups.  All of their tableware, from clear drink cups to utensils, are made from compostable, plant-based materials.  It takes just 90 days for the GMO-free corn derived Repurpose items to decompose in a commercial facility.

The hot cups are even lined with plant material, not plastic, and are printed with non-toxic, soy based inks, chlorine free.  The utensils are heat-safe up to 200F and the plates and bowls are made from sugar cane fiber that is microwave safe.  All of the items hold up to multiple uses, even after soaking!

CoolBag

With Spring around the corner, make sure you have an insulated bag to carry all these Lunchtime Must Haves in!  We like the CoolBag Beach Tote because of all its features, including a locking handle and zipper so you can secure it to a picnic table to make sure no one takes off with your belongings.

It comes in six vibrant colors and has multiple compartments: magazine pocket, exterior zippered pouch, wine (or water bottle) pockets on both sides and a zippered base that holds a 6 hour cold pack. The interior is full of various pockets too.  Although it’s a beach tote, it also has removable backpack straps that help you carry it a heavy load comfortably.

CoolBag is offering a promo code especially for our readers, so use greenbaby10 to get 10% off your purchase!
