Product Review: Super Undies Nighttime Undies

Super Undies

Reusable Nighttime Pullups

Cotton Nighttime Pullups

I must admit that we have not been as committed to cloth diapering at night as during the day.  Actually, we exclusively use disposable at night because our girls have a propensity toward diaper rash if left in a wet cloth diaper and, more importantly, we don’t want to jinx their habit of sleeping through the night.

Once Franci started having dry diapers most mornings, I felt it was time to try a reusable nighttime diaper.  Especially since you can only reuse an un-soiled disposable so many times, and throwing dry diapers away was starting to cause a case of eco-guilt.  Of course we use chlorine-free, biodegradable diapers that use corn fiber for absorption, but still.

Schwinn The Biking Game Review and Giveaway!

scwhinngameIt was a rainy, cold afternoon in May (a sad reality of life in the upper Midwest) when I found myself in the unfortunate situation of refereeing a screeching match between two five-year-olds and a six-year-old. Then I remembered…May is National Bicycle Month and we recently received a copy of Schwinn The Biking Board Game! I stumbled to the game closet, barely getting the box down before an entire room of my home was destroyed by maniacal, possibly cannibalistic, little girls.

“Hey guys, do you want to play a new game?”

I held my breath as they regarded me with suspicion.

“It’s about bikes”.

That did it. They were hooked.

Product Review and Giveaway: I See Me personalized children’s book

The personalized I See Me book my five-year-old, Katie, received recently entitled ‘Katie Can Change The World’ might be one of the most delightful things I’ve ever seen. Katie has asked to read this book every other day since she received it two months ago. She loves searching for her name throughout the book and pointing out her favorite details on each page. Maybe it’s the beautiful and endearing illustrations or maybe it’s the message (spread loving kindness as far as you can), but somehow I haven’t grown tired of this book yet either.  i-can-change-the-world-personalized-book-4

I was amazed at the large assortment of personalized items available for purchase on the I See Me website. Besides books of all types (for babies, toddlers, big sisters and brothers, etc.,) I See Me offers personalized placemats, growth charts, stickers, even lunch boxes. You can choose an item based on a theme (fairies, dinosaurs, farm, etc.,), holiday, age or gender. Or just do what I did and spend way too much time ogling each and every beautiful item and planning out gifts for nieces, nephews and my friend’s kids for the next 5 years.

Zutano Review and Giveaway

Booties that stay put!

Booties that stay put!

I first heard of Zutano kid’s clothing and accessories when I noticed my cousin’s 6 month old daughter wearing the best little booties.  Unlike all of Allison’s socks, these booties actually stayed on her feet!

It turns out that all of the kimono-style onsies I see his daughter wearing are Zutano as well!  I don’t understand while all infant tops aren’t this sort of wrap style.  I would much rather do up a couple of snaps than struggle with pulling shirts off and on.

A perfect fit!

A perfect fit!

Now that we have our own Zutano Booties, Allison’s feet have gotten plenty of notice from other parents. It turns out we aren’t the only ones with sock issues!  The booties have snap closures at two settings, so no matter the size of your baby’s ankles, they stay in place.  And the Cozie Booties are especially nice in winter.

Book Review: Nick’s Very First Day of Baseball

Nick’s Very First Day of BaseballNicks-Very-First-Day-of-Baseball

I have an almost-four year old and we recently discovered the book Nick’s Very First Day of Baseball, by Kevin Christofora. Baseball is a big topic around our house even though neither my husband nor I are big fans. I think our son hears about it in school a lot. The book follows a little boy named Nick from when his mom signed him up for baseball to the end of his first practice. The book has little activities in it too. There is one page where the child has to find all the baseballs and at the end is a list of words that might be new and a quiz.

Product Review and Giveaway: All Good GOOP and Kid’s Sunscreen

Elemental Herbs

When it comes to skincare, we usually stick to the basics. That means if we’re not making our own lotion or shampoo, we look for products that contain a few simple ingredients that get the job done. Elemental Herbs has many great products, and including an all-purpose healing balm and several sunscreens.

Besides using organic, medicinal quality ingredients, the Elemental Herbs facility runs on solar power, and all products are cruelty-free. They are an Eco-friendly corporation you can feel good about supporting. For more information, take a look here.

All Good GOOP Healing Balm

Healing Balm

Healing Balm

We live in a dry, high altitude climate that can be harsh on the skin. Dry, cracked skin and rough cheeks are a regular occurrence in our household, enough that Franci frequently requests “lotion” for her “owies”. I feel comfortable rubbing on a little bit of All Good GOOP, because I recognize all the ingredients (and usually put them in my own balm, when I actually have time to make it).

Product Review: JAWS Cleaners

JAWS Just Add Water System

Just Add Water System

Just Add Water System

We recently received a JAWS – Just Add Water System Complete Home Cleaning Kit to review. JAWS uses reusable spray bottles and little cartridges of highly concentrated cleaning ingredients. You just fill the spray bottles with water and all you need to buy after investing in your first set is the cartridges of cleaning solution.

We tried all four — Shower, Hardwood, Kitchen and Glass. In terms of efficacy, these products are good. My favorite was the glass cleaner. I looked online at other reviews and I am not alone. The stuff really works. It’s way better and more effective than Windex or its generic equivalents. My mirrors are all streak-free and I hardly used any of the cleaner.

Product Review and Giveaway: Snipe Hunt

Snipes in their Nest

Snipes in their Nest

Snipe Hunt Review

Now that spring is in full swing and summer is just around the corner, we’re on the lookout for outdoor games and activities to keep Franci occupied. She will spend hours at her water table playing imaginary games and getting nice and wet, but I’m not willing to set it up for short-term play.  I have to be sure she’s going to be at it for at least a couple of hours on a day that is warm enough to be in wet clothes.

We found a great short-term activity that is perfect for outdoors, but is also good for indoor fun as well.  For months, one of her favorite games has been Hide and Seek, and Snipe Hunt takes it to a whole new level.  The best part is that I don’t have to do the hiding or seeking myself!
