Snipe Hunt Review

Now that spring is in full swing and summer is just around the corner, we’re on the lookout for outdoor games and activities to keep Franci occupied. She will spend hours at her water table playing imaginary games and getting nice and wet, but I’m not willing to set it up for short-term play.  I have to be sure she’s going to be at it for at least a couple of hours on a day that is warm enough to be in wet clothes.

We found a great short-term activity that is perfect for outdoors, but is also good for indoor fun as well.  For months, one of her favorite games has been Hide and Seek, and Snipe Hunt takes it to a whole new level.  The best part is that I don’t have to do the hiding or seeking myself!

Endless Summer Package Review and Giveaway!

Chicago in February might be the last thing that would make a person think of summer, but a little bit of warm weather fun came to our northern Illinois home recently in the form of “The Endless Summer Package” by Idea Village. The package consists of three fun products that definitely bring summer to mind: Hover Ball, Snackeez and Squishy Sand.

Hover Ball is by far my favorite of the Endless Summer Package items. It is basically one half of a soccer ball with a smooth, flat bottom. It glides effortlessly across carpeted floors (can be used on hard floors, though doesn’t work quite as well). I have two ball-loving kids and we’ve had a lot of fun playing with this hover ball in our basement.

Playing with Fire

Forest fires blow!

I’ve seen some bad forest fires over the years, living in the west as we do, but this year takes the cake. I guess it was overloaded with one too many lit candles!

It’s been days since we saw the mountains just across the valley, and it smells like a campfire inside the house. I’m not sure what I miss more, the blue sky or opening the windows at night to enjoy the cool breeze.

Worst of all is being stuck inside all day! We’re grumpy enough from cabin fever, and the irritated throats and itchy eyes aren’t helping one bit. What’s a mom to do?
